As many were not able to or did not choose to consult with Foreman Oliver while he was having Lunch with us. Some updates from those conversations as well as a progress update of "Shen is summoning something, its supposed to be helpful..."
Trader Purchased Supplies
We had one Adventurer stepping away from the adventuring life for an unknown amount of time, as a result they donated a sum of gold to the communal supplies. This gold was used to purchase supplies from the Selunari Traders who came into town this market. The remaining amount was donations towards that goal.
If you contributed to that goal in addition, and wish that gold to be eventually repaid, please let me know privately - as I was not provided a list of who contributed what beyond that one individual, but the people who did should be able to confirm the donation. With this list of supplies added to our store house, Foreman Oliver was able to devise what he and his team could build, as well as recommendations based on his city plans and estimated current immediate and future needs.
Food Storage
Additionally, with the aid of Binar's study of Creation magics, available Creation Sparks, and Scrolls from communal supplies, was able to charge two of our Project Hammers for Oliver's use. At those recommendations, we have improved upon our food storage abilities with a mind for improvements to attempt large scale implementation of Kolrabi's food preserver solution. As noted in the Bridge update, we now also have a Grand Master Blacksmith and his team of apprentices & aids. A House for the Him and his Team was built, and will be attached to a Smithy that is also now under construction.
I have also begun a magical experiment to attempt to expand the amount we can store without increasing our footprint. Essentially manipulating the space of the building to be "bigger on the inside". This experiment is being done in a controlled way monitored by both Oliver and our Supplies Quartermaster as we want to make sure the that additional space is stable, nothing ends up moved or lost, and that the spacial & temporal manipulation does not effect the rate the food needs to be rotated to prevent becoming spoiled.
Housing, Wellness, Town Security
Ive been working with Foreman Oliver for some building concepts that are aspects of growth instead of the basic life requirements that we have been focusing on. Ultimately he likes a good deal of them and is passively working up a few ideas for things. As I personally like diversity in defense or offense, I am curious ideas of additional home base defense. Kolrabi had an excellent idea to electrify the outside of our Palisades and city walls when they are made. And I am sure other things could be considered along the same lines. Benign external and internal traps that become rather significant hindrance or deadly when activated - etc. Ive discussed a "Shelter in Place" warning with Lt. Gloomguard which she believes would be an amazing addition to town Safety. After last winter, the snow is equally as contaminated as the water - but with snow, the water comes to us. So a method to refine/purify the snow into usable safe water would be great as well as a method to store/distribute it. Additionally snow and Ice removal was a large contributor towards injuries last year so a method to easily address such concerns hes avidly listening for. Also discussed is communal freshwater baths as well as laundering items - but to do so locally and with minimal expense, as opposed to the current process.
Quarry & Mine Efforts
With our Quarry 3months underway, the market before last our Vornae Specialist overseeing the project from the Empire of night provided feedback regarding the health and happiness of those Empire of Night citizens living in the tainted lands, and living without the protection of a Cloak of Darkness. At that market, we were able to successfully enact a Cloak of Darkness surrounding the Quarry, and done what we can for the citizens themselves when not working. To my knowledge the specialist did not inform of any deterioration or new needs, so it is believed all is going well. Our remaining contract with the Quarry Specilist and 50% of the needed labor force is set to end here in a few months.
With a Smithy being built and Quarry underway, we will grow more and more in need of a Mine-able resource for our team of blacksmiths to utalize. Specialist Scout Lilith is going to keep a look out for such now that she has returned from her "vacation" in The Empire (not of Night, the other one) Prison. The visiting trader was also paid to keep a look out for such.
"Jasper"
There is a rather imposing "loose" Elemental in town. They are polite, brown/red in coloring and bare my caster's mark upon their brow. This is Jasper, an Elemental Knight from the Foundation plane of Stone, which I summoned negotiated with and have bound to several tasks taking a varried amount of time. They will most often be working alone, or if needed working closely with Foreman Oliver.
The first of agreed upon tasks is to construct additional Palisades for our little hamlet. Currently we have gaps in security and to get the most security we still need 3 more, ideally 4+. This task, Jasper has agreed to complete all construction governed by its Element. This roughly comes to about 90% of the work before our next market. Essentially Jasper is accomplishing roughly an entire summer's worth of work by an entire construction team and specialist, by itself. Allowing Foreman Oliver to select a team and "finish" the group of Palisades as a single project for all the various construction needs which can not be made or shaped from stone, basically all the stuff made of wood. In addition to this task, Jasper will assist within the Quarry, relocation of materials, and assist Oliver with a few other projects requiring Stone work. If we still have not found a mine-able resource by end of market in November, I will work with Jasper for the name of an elemental suited to mining and entreet with them to attempt to help us find such a resource should it be reasonably nearby.
Jasper is fully capable of defending themself from internal and external threats. While I will become aware if/when Jasper becomes threatened, should I not be immediately available, please come to Jasper's Aid as you might be available. Not only in an attempt of positive relationship with a Knight of the Plane - but also the immense cost measured against the months of work Jasper is accomplishing in such a short amount of time. The more energy Jasper has to expend defending themself, the less energy Jasper has to perform their agreed upon tasks. While unlikely, I have also covered that should any adventurer, Ikari's Hope resident or Guest become a threat or concern, I will address it upon Jasper's behalf as opposed to Jasper addressing the issue themself, short of protecting their own existence or prevention of the conclusion of the agreed upon tasks.
