Villains (spawn of "I Miss Ward Keys")

I like Morganna because, like Geddy Lee, for years I believed them to be women.

I would like to see / fight / taste a bacon construct of some kind. I am disappointed that I have not encountered one yet. I am sure that while playing LV next season I shall encounter one... because Patrick is silly, and I believe he has it in him to do this to me.

A true Villian...

A true villian you talk smack to if he's / she's suppose to be uber heinous is the villian that will not kill you...it's the one that puts you in a circle while he / she kills the entire town for you to watch and the town knows you caused it.

Ouch!!! Now that's messed up. I would totally fear that. Especially since the villain wouldn't res the guy and just let the town hate him...wow nasty.

My favorite BBG is Morganna in HQ. In 1996 at my first HQ weekend, Morganna kicked my butt. Not personally - the minions had me covered. But Morganna scared the crap out of me. 13 years later I'm in a position to challenge Morganna (if Morganna isn't permanently dead). The cool thing about Morganna is that when I met him first I was helpless and scared. The second time I was a little less helpless and still scared. If there's a third time I'll give Morganna a good fight (unless I'm alone in which case I'll outrun Morganna).

So anyway, I like the BBG that your character grows into fighting. There's nothing to sympathize with or whatever so I'm not worried about the BBGs motivations. I just want to kick that guy's butt for scaring me when I was 2nd level - nostalgia in that Morganna was the first BBG I ever saw.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news Jim, but Morganna has left the building.

Too bad you're not coming to the event Dave. This would've been great ;) J/k. But seriously. Sad you're missing the event.

I thought I'd heard that. Too bad. I don't think there are any BBGs left from 1996-2000 but if there were that would be my favorite.

Since people are mentioning some of their favorites...

Prince Quassim - not powerful, but had incredible timing and cunning for screwing with the players

Targashian - Wants to rule the world, wants to do it smartly, and is willing to corrupt the PCs on the way to doing it. Already has a perm and a retirement to his name. (yes, I was the perm... poor high orc)

Me too (although seeing how there is a nor-easter coming I am glad im not) but trying to look for a new place and plan a family it has slowed my larping carrier to 1 event a month.

Undoer was pretty nasty too..

Yeah but I was there once when we took him out by throwing a bunch of disarms and making him a normal troll for a few seconds. I heard he had a return appearance but he had already been defeated once...

Morganna was just different. I don't know if adventurers ever did find his weakness and permanently destroy him or what but while I was around we just didn't know how to kill the guy.

My favorite villains are the ones who you can ALMOST agree with, but in the end their is something about them that puts them on the side of evil. Orlantha was my personal favorite. She questioned everything Amar said or did, and forced me to IG evaluate what it means to be a good guy. I almost went evil with the character becasue her case was made so well. And when the day came that I got to take her down it was the most epic moment ever. Not just winning a fight, but winning (in amar's head) the internal battle between what CAN be done to defeat evil, and what SHOULD be done.

Its popular, but Heath Leger's Joker is a great example. He is is twisted and evil, but you can't realy find a reason why, and he forces you to ask yourself "how far am I willing to go?". Other favorites include: Grand Admiral Thrawn (f-ing genious), Baron Harkonen (easy to hate), and the Galbadios Church of St. Ajora (Final Fantasy tactics, best political villians ever).

I'm gonna agree with 2 of the 3 villains that Bill posted. I don't classify Thrawn as a villain. He was an antagonist, sure. But he's a proper military genius, and the only reason to remotely throw him in with great villains is that the books are written to portray his enemies as the heroes.

I think Scott said it first, some of the best villains are the ones who don't think they are villains.

For example: General Lee. Is he a villain?

Much like in the movie Falling Down with Michael Douglas. Throughout the movie you root for him and sometimes you think he's gone too far. I think the line at the very end of the film of Micheal Douglas facing Robert Duval summed it up best, "I'm the bad guy?"
