What weather should we expect?

What sort of weather should we expect for the event? Is it often very rainy, lots of snow, how cold? I will only have so much room in my bag so i would like to get an idea of what to bring.

Thanks so much I am really looking towards seeing everyone Friday.

Amanda :D

Expect temperature to vary from 35 to 45 degrees, with regular mist/drizzle/rain. It's possible we will be surprised with no rain but I doubt it :)

PACK LOTS OF SOCKS! Can't be stressed too much. You're entire event can turn on whether or not you can go back to your cabin and put on dry clean socks. Other than that, warm layers.

Alright, thank you for the advise. What is the site like? Is there a lot of lighting, or is it very dark? Also are there hills and it the forest dense? This may sound odd but, how far our of the city are you? Do we have to worry about wildlife? For us it is mostly coyotes, deer, raccoons and bats.

Thanks again looking with towards seeing everyone,
Amanda

The lighting is pretty good over all. The cabins are set up in clusters, with the main cluster containing the majority of the PC cabins. As far as the terrain goes the ground is pretty flat in most areas, with a long grassy slope infront of the tavern. The majority of the cabins are in a grassy area, but the grassy areas are surrounded by large copes of trees. In order to go from many of the PC cabins to the tavern or to monster camp you have to walk through a poorly lit cope of trees. Something to keep in mind, the site is on a lake, and does occasionally get very very foggy, making it difficult to see in some areas.

As far as wildlife, deer are not uncommon, and over the last 8 years I have had two bats fly into my cabin. Although I have never seen coyotes or other more aggressive animals, there is a wolf haven close by, so it is not uncommon to hear wolves.

As for weather Bryan pretty much summed it up. It is likely to be between 35-45 and rainy. We do occasionally get a little bit of snow in february out there, but not often. As far as how often it rains, usually it is touch and go, but the ground is almost always wet.

Hope that helps,

Holly

Map of Millersylvania State Park at Google Maps

This should give you a good idea of how close to town we are.

The site is about 8 miles from Fred Meyers in Tumwater, WA. Map with Directions
Fred Meyers is like Target with a full service Grocery and Pharmacy also. There is also some gas stations, an Albertsons (Gorcery Store), a Homedepot, and a Costco nearby Fred Meyers as well.

This list of mammals that can be seen at Millerslyvania cames from the WA State parks website:Chipmunks, Coyotes, Deer or Elk, Marten, Muskrats, Otters, Rabbits, Raccoons, Skunks, Squirrels, and Weasels. The most common I have seen off this list is deer, raccoons, squirrels, and chipmunks.

There is lighting near most areas with buildings, so near the Tavern area and parking loot, and near the two Bathrooms and in each cabin area. The large barn that is used for mods and night fights also has lights in it as well. The forests are not too dense, though can be a bit dangerous to go running at full speed through at night. There are some spots on the paths that lead between the Tavern and some of the cabin areas that can be pretty dark. If you have bad night sight it may be advisable to carry a glow stick or a small flashlight so you don't wander off the path.

Hope that answers your questions, if you have any more just ask away. :)

Yay! River otters sound adorable.

Davio, who will be playing his gypsy

Sweet, that sounds awesome. I love river otters! Thanks for the information, everyone :P . I just want to be as prepared as possible since we are traveling kinda far. There are bunks in the cabins right? I just need to make sure that I bring the proper sleeping supplies. :)

Amanda
P.S. I hope all the questions are not being annoying.

Your site is sweet. That is one less thing that I have to bring.

Amanda

Showers, do you have them? And if so, hot or cold water. I need to know how many towels.

Amanda

Yes showers.

Yes hot.

Showers are not showers without hot.

Provided you get to them early enough... I have, in fact, seen the showers run out of hot. Usually on the end of the three-days.

Good I shall bring things that work well with the 'hot' soap, shampoo, microbeads :D .

Amanda

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays that way!

No rain? Hmmm, I'll have to pack my undead-fighting boxers for that  .
