Why doesn't the google search engine work?

We used to have a search engine on the Ashbury newsletters page, but for some reason it kind of stopped working. I can't figure it out.

I went back to Google and started a new one but it only finds maybe 1/3 of mentions.

I have it pointed to http://alliancelarp.com/news/ig which is the folder that holds all the newsletters -- but if you type in something like, say "Frost" -- nothing comes up! What is wrong? I know there are mentions of Duke Frost in the newsletters!!!

You can go to http://www.google.com/coop/cse/ to create your own search engine. Maybe one of you web guys can help me out here.

I don't know where your custom search engine is, but if it's only searching that subdirectory, I imagine it should get the same response as the query "Frost site:alliancelarp.com/news/ig", for which I get 1 result. My personal crawler gave me about 353 mentions (not sites, but they didn't all come from the same one). What concerns me is that, at a certain point, I kept getting 404s for sites I could manually type into my browser and retrieve. I wonder if it's some sort of flood protection that would be preventing Google's spiders from indexing all the articles. Never mind, I just realized the URLs they were getting were malformed. I'm going to try to figure out where those urls came from to see if there are broken links that would potentially fool Google's spiders, because the only thing I can think of is that they're somehow not indexing what you want.

I figured out where they came from, and it shouldn't be problem. I'm all out of ideas.
