Alliance Rulebook 2.1 Draft 10

Hello All! Draft 10 is HERE! Please note that at this time we have removed all of the images - they will be added back in the final once we finish collecting all of the necessary waivers. There are a few changes that have not yet been made as they are going through the voting process, so remember that the final version a few things may be different. Please feel free to post additional edits in this thread ONLY - please do not private message the docs team. We need to keep edits in 1 place to make sure we get them all. Someone from docs will comment on each edit as it has been reviewed. There may be some more recent comments from the past few weeks that we have not yet included - we will let you know once they have been reviewed. Thank for for all of your feedback! This has been a HUGE effort and we are very proud of the work that has gone into this by everyone. If you have non-edit criticism, feel free to email me at sbsalliancedocs@gmail.com.

One more thing to note: The race packets are NOT YET UPDATED as of today. I will edit this post once those have been updated on the website, with the link information. The future link information has been included in this book, but it may not be accurate as of right now. It will be though!

Hello Docs! Thank you for the continuing opportunities to have a direct impact by providing backup on the Rulebook.

"Logistics Period" is mentioned frequently throughout the text, but never clearly and concisely defined. Perhaps a prime spot would be in the Logistics section?

Page 3: The last sentence has no punctuation.

Page 23: The description of Game Abilities has drastically changed from the previous 2.0 rulebook, to the extent that it changes longstanding functionality of what can and cannot be used when under an effect that restricts Game Abilities. I am assuming this was not an actual rules change and was instead an unintentional change by Docs in an attempt to slim down the section to simpler terms, but a lot of the necessary intent and relevant specifics were lost/changed by the verbiage. Assuming this is true, please coordinate with ARC for proper verbiage to keep the intended rules intact.

With the removal of the Ventrella foreword, the "The Spirit of the Rule is more important than the Letter of the Rule" sentiment is no longer present in the rulebook, which is something I believe should be included in some capacity.

Several sections from the Code of Conduct section of the previous ruleset are omitted completely from the 2.1 Rulebook, which is all VERY important information that I feel should be included. Such missing information includes:
- Good Sportsmanship rules
- Spirit of the Rules
- Regulated Behaviors (which includes sexual harassment, discrimination, various bashing, etc.)
- Infractions
- Adjudication
- And more!

The "no religion" sentiment isn't present in the rulebook, which is something I believe should be included in some capacity.

In the biata description, it is not clear that biata feathers are restricted to certain colors and that the color you choose impacts your RP. If a player doesn't follow the link, they may come in game with any color feathers. Even if they do follow the link, it's not 100% clear that the colors listed are the only allowable feather colors.

Page 88 regarding Inscription scrolls:
Break is listed under 3 points (Level 3).
Shatter is no longer listed (Level 7).

Has Shatter been removed from Inscription?

Shatter is no longer a standard scrollable effect.

Any existing shatter scrolls should be replaced with break scrolls.

Thanks!
Wasn't sure, thought I'd check and ask.
....probably for the best there.

P. 46, last sentence of the Gaining Skills section:
You may not “combine” Experience Points from two different skill categories to satisfy these prerequisites.

The quotation marks are extraneous and should be removed.

p. 101: "Weapon of Interception" heading is orphaned at the bottom of the page instead of accompanying its description at the top of p. 102.

Corrupt, PG 36

"Corrupt
Necromancy
Spell (Earth Level 9)
10 Minutes
This effect will kill a living target (the target becomes dead) and instantly raises them as a Greater Undead under the absolute control of the
caster. The target will retain the same intelligence and knowledge as the original creature but operate without any memory of their living state. The target has an innate understanding of their own abilities and items and may use any weapons or armor available to the target. The target gains the ability to use Claws (the caster of the effect must supply the physreps). The target gains all undead immunities and vulnerabilities (see the Monster Ability section) and is returned to full Body Points.
The player (not the character) has the choice whether to use per day Skills, Spells, and consumables while under the effect of Corrupt, and will use magic items based on the orders they are given. While under this effect, a target may not use the Investiture effect to recognize other characters, or themselves, into or out of a Ward, Wizard Lock, or Circle of Power.
The target’s visual appearance does not immediately change, but careful inspection can reveal this effect. While within 10 feet of another character they can see clearly, anyone may ask the out-of-game question, “are you undead?” The target of the question must give a truthful out-of-game answer as to their Undead status.
If the target receives a Life effect, the Corrupt effect immediately ends and the target is returned to life at one Body Point. If the target receives a Dispel effect, the target falls dead and begins the standard Death Count. If the target is reduced to zero Body Points, or the effect duration expires, the target falls dead and begins the standard Death Count. In any case, the target will have no knowledge of their time spent under the Corrupt effect.
If cast upon a dead body which contains a spirit, the target will immediately arise as a Greater Undead as per above. This effect will not work on a dead body which has previously received a Corrupt effect, Create Undead (or other similar Ritual) effect, or is permanently dead.
The ten-minute effect duration may not be extended by any means, even by Ritual Magic.
“With Necromancy I Corrupt you.”

Recommend removing the bolded section above and adding the following:

"This effect will kill a living target (the target becomes dead) or if cast upon a dead body which contains a spirit and instantly raises them as a Greater Undead under the absolute control of the caster. The target will retain the same intelligence and knowledge as the original creature but operate without any memory of their living state....

hello, I noticed a couple spacing issues.
101-102 weapon of interception is at the bottom of 101, description on 102.
also 104-105 for infection.

p. 31 -- the Command section of the chart in the "Removed by" column has several instances of "Break" instead of "Break Command."

The auto-injector for tinkering wording is not correct. "When a character is next affected by a non-instant effect in the effect group....." Non-instant needs to be removed and just changed to instant effect.

The auto-injector for tinkering wording is not correct. "When a character is next affected by a non-instant effect in the effect group....." Non-instant needs to be removed and just changed to instant effect.
“Non-instant” is correct.

Effects with an “Instant” duration do not stick around to be removed, they occur and have an immediate and lasting impact without a specific duration (such as a loss of armor or body points).

Then you'll need to fix the wording of all the spells, such as sleep that says it's instant. Makes the ability worthless.

Sleep is listed as a 5 minute effect in both the effects chart and the spell description.

Can you clarify what you mean further?

Spell description for sleep as an example. It says it causes the target to instantly fall asleep.
Auto injector says non-insant effect. I.e. doesn't work on sleep.
