Whoa.
This event contained so many impactful things for both me and Khorwyn that I don’t even know if I can recount them all, but I will do my best! This event was the culmination of going on seven years of plot for me, left simmering behind the scenes until the right moment, and now exploding into game. What began as a mysterious personal plot element from early in Khorwyn’s adventuring career has now transitioned into what seems like a major, dangerous plot device, and I couldn’t be more pleased. So many things have changed for me and Khorwyn, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Here follows all of the favorites I can muster:
#1. Donna Hellmuth. Donna was responsible for not only designing, writing, and directing this amazing event, but also took it upon herself to pull the trigger on my personal plot and fire it into the lives of the adventuring community. Her passion, creativity, and dedication are integral to the very functionality of our chapter, and I’m so glad that we have her!
#2. NPC’s. We have so many excited volunteers these days. The game would truly suffer if it were not for the eagerness and initiative of our NPC’s, so I thank you all for tirelessly (well, you’re probably actually very tired) committing yourself to making the game world full and fun. I look forward to joining you in September!
#3. JR Messina. You probably know him as Belgar, but I know him as the most helpful, generous, and optimistic person I’ve had the pleasure of befriending in quite some time. Without JR, I would have lost my mind trying to organize, prepare, and serve this event’s feast. With his unwavering support and productive approach, we were able to execute what I felt was a successful, delicious feast. I cannot thank him enough. Seriously, he’s probably getting tired of hearing it!
#4. Todd Silber. Toddy sacrificed quite a bit of game time to stand as the judge for my archery competition. And he provided me with a super cool quiver to use. And he wanted but didn’t get to compete because he didn’t have the archery skill, even though he is apparently a badass archer in real life. Thanks so much, Bud, for helping me execute my contest!
#5. Dragons, Death Elementals, and the Jade Skeleton, oh my! I have successfully pissed off and/or am being hunted/punished by three major “bad” guys, all because of my not-so-secret-anymore amulet. What once was something we could hide away in a box behind a Ward is now bound to me, making me a moving target/beacon/magnet/neon advertisement to several forces of evil. Here’s to investing in lots of Elemental Shields, and I’m sure a host of other protectives. At least I’ve got a Phoenix on my side!
#6. The boys and girls of the Banner of the Crescent Moon. Having virtually the entire membership of Blythedale together was wonderful. From our procession at the beginning of the festival to our combined efforts to save our reputation and defend the lands from Tranquis’s forces, we worked so well together! I mean, except for the Grand Melee. What was THAT?! (awkward face)
#7. The feast! I hope everyone enjoyed attending it as much as we enjoyed serving it. The decorations, food, and music all combined for what I felt was a very immersive evening. I remember looking out at all of the smiling people in the tavern and struggling to actually see the tavern itself. Thank you to everyone in blue and white for pitching in, and for everyone who aiding in cleaning it up!
#8. Whispering Wind? More like Screaming Tornado. My thanks to Collin for something amazing that I can’t share with anyone…yet.
#9. Being promoted to Lord Captain. Khorwyn was quite anti-Ducal forces in his early adventuring years, so to be stepping into a military leadership position is definitely a testament to the maturation of the character. Now, on to recruiting a strike team…
#10. Espionage! My thanks to Mike and Heidi for building a plot full of subterfuge, legerdemain, and other sneaky subtleties in which I could participate. I’ll need to pass the torch along to less publicly responsible parties for now, but it’s been a great ride!
Well, that’s all for now! I will see all of you in September, when I join the Dark Side once more… (cackling)
