Coin Names

Besides my own idea (originally posted on FB but repeated here)

Crowns (gold) and Nobles (silver) but I don't like Jesters. Maybe shackles or talents for copper?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE AARON'S IDEA!!!

It definitely gets my vote :D

I like
- Gold Crowns
- Silver Shillins
- Copper Pence

Im down with Aaron's. It is very much in flavour with our history. plus there are so many ways to use the slang, " a Lions Bounty" "a Comets wage". I like it

Ooh "Lion's Bounty" and "The Lion's Share". Love it! And since it ties in with the lore and makes total sense, it's great!

My thought is Crowns, Comets and Crows. Just cause it sounds cool when you say it fast! :D

I am cool with it being a Crown instead of a Lion :)

I am flabbergasted by how many people like my idea.. but yeah Lion to Crown does make sense...

The original King's heraldry is unknown, I was only using Masterson Lion... but I guess the Heraldry changes with each King...

Thus a Crown (the FIRST crown of Calandonia) would be appropriate.. and make sense. :)

Crowns and Comets and Crows. OOOHHH MY!!!(in a George Takei purr)
Me likey, likey.

I also like Aaron's idea, but with the Lion-Crown change.

Crown, Comet and Crow for the WIN!!! (in my opinion anyway) :shades:

Gold: Crowns
Silver: Nobles
Copper: Common

I wasn't until this post that I saw a slight problem;
Crown Makes it a little hard to distinguish at a glance between a Crow and a Crown when reading text or writing. I think Lions is better, for this reason - plus it is on the current king's heraldry so I think it's a better fit. (As for 'original' king's heraldry - I don't see that it really matters. Coins in real life often change their mintage when the royalty changes.)

My vote: Lion - Comet - Crow.

Lion for the King - good point Justin.
Comet - I like Aaron's reasoning behind this.
Crow.....?

Was trying to find a way to name the copper something that means "grumpy old man hunched over a staff all day with aching bones and dust in his lungs" in honour of the Arch Mage, but nothing seemed to fit just quite right.

Until I read Crow! Az'Caine, the old Crow! :mer: All three of the names are now perfect! heehee

Yup, as pointed out in many of the posts, there's all kinds of multi-layered meanings to some of them, which makes it all the more perfect. (But I'm of the camp that still wishes the toonie was named either the Double Loon or the Dubloon - I don't care which spelling, but the double meaning was too awesome to pass up... and then they passed it up. WTH!)
