Favorite Campy Series?

What was the television show you loved to watch, no matter how silly it got?

Personally? Xena, and Buffy.

Anybody else?

Xena definitely, moreso than Hercules. The old Batman series absolutely.

There was a short lived series called "Wizards and Warriors" that I think influenced Xena, but they've never been released on tape or DVD!

Buffy wasn't campy in my mind as much as it was self-aware, if you can see the difference...

The original Battlestar Galactica

Buck Rogers

V

Poltergeist: The Legacy

God, they haven't made a good cheezy show in a while.

Buffy, Xena, Batman, Buck Rogers, orignal BSG

I don't know if I saw them all, but I loved the musical episodes of Xena. I kept trying to think about how music could drive an Alliance event, using the themes for mood as well as lyrics for plot points. Alas, only a handful of players would truly immerse themselves in that scenario...and you know who you are. ;)

On that note, the Buffy musical really came up with an interesting way to explain the reality of the music. They were actually compelled to sing and dance by a demon. BRILLIANT!

Dear God, how could I forget the Incredible Hulk and Wonder Woman? (btw, I love that they put the sad walking-away music intothe new Hulk movie, and Lou Ferrigno is still HUGE)

Not a series, but I watched it last night on HBO so I'm saying it any way:

The Last Dragon

An African American trying to be Chinese.
Chinese trying to be African American.
Prince's girlfriend Vanity.
And of course the movie was stolen by Mr. Nuff, aka Sho Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem.

I feel like I'm back in high school every time I watch that movie.

I'll turn this back to tv though and mention "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." in which Sho'nuff played Lord Bowler.

Good stuff.

when you get that glow, your body's right.

Amazing how Bruce Campbell seems to be in a lot of these campy things, isn't it? His new film "My Name is Bruce" comes out soon....

I can't believe I forgot that one. Brisco actually made reference in the first episode to being on a TV show. After they succeeded in doing whatever the plot had them doing he says something like, "Yep. We only have to do this about 20 more times,' referencing the average number of episodes in a season. Too bad the show didn't last.

I might have to find it on DVD, if they released it.

Hmm....would Robot Chicken be campy enough to qualify here?

My favorite quote from the old Batman series:

"Quick Robin. Get the shark repellant."

(Then said shark explodes after getting sprayed by the repellant)

Robot Chicken...

I wouldn't say its campy, more like its spoofing many campy shows.

As for Chad Vader,

Yeah I'd say that's campy.

Batman is probably best camp evah, but the best line is from the movie they did from that series: "Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb!"

Seeing no need to mention the several shows I have liked that are listed here already I will list the one that i absent

I really enjoyed Special Unit 2

My favorite ultra campy but still funny movie is probably few have heard of and fewer have watched.

Surf Ninjas
