someone told me campy meant "not to be taken seriously"

you can't honestly believe that Good Times was meant to be taken seriously

Good Times was a comedy. Camp doesn't take ITSELF seriously.

The Pirates of Dark Water and how about the D&D cartoon.....don't forget my all time fave...The simpsons.

People really don't seem to be understanding what campy means. A lot of the things listed are not campy at all. At best, they are dated by today's standards. Battlestar Galactica was a serious show at the time, Batman of the 60s was campy.

Campy is the theatre of the absurd. By definition, it is "over the top".

I don't see how anyone can put Eight is Enough in there, as it was pretty much a family drama. Sure it's silly and dated and their serious issues were the serious issues of the 70s, not the 2000s, but it certainly wasn't campy.
