You have obviously never met anyone who is still convinced that "Lord of the Rings" is based on a true story.

Well, that was JRR Tolkien's intent. It's supposed to be from a forgotten part of history. Both The Hobbit and LotR are supposed to be his translations of old books from the actual time period. Each age ends in a battle with a big bag guy. LotR ends the 3rd age with the defeat of Sauron and the 4th age begins. Each age is gradually shorter than the last. I believe the defeat of Hitler was supposed to be the end of the 6th age, which puts us now living in the 7th age. Tolkien put it together that way.
