Is there a place to sign up for the April event in order to confirm my attendance?

depends if your npcing or pcing
if pcing sign up for pre-registering on the site www.alliancedeadlands.com
if npcing, its free so usually there is just a post of people who are planning to npc on the forums.

Ok, cool. Then, yes I am NPC'ing with a possible +1. Any advice on a first time NPC'er kit ... I know to wear black, bring a tent and sleeping bad, maybe bug spray (but April might be a little early), blankets, energy bars....I'm sure I'm missing a ton more stuff...

And I smell a duel brewing with those two up there ^^^^^^^^.....hehe

Definately bring black clothes. I would recommend looser pants (so not jeans).
Always bring extra socks, underwear, undershirts, sweatshirts, and even an extra jacket in case it rains.
PJs to sleep in.
Sleeping bag.
Blankets.
Pillow.
I like putting a yoga mat or other padding down underneath the sleeping bag in case there are no mattresses.
A tent if you have one.
Toiletries (toothbrush, soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner... exc)
Pain Killers are always good to have on hand (tylonal, advil or what have you)
WATER!!!!or other fluid to keep you hydrated. Although NPC camp usually has some, its good to have a back up supply.
Snacks
Any extra personal equipment or costuming stuff you want to bring... if you have any.

I like interacting with people and its cool to do it online... but 6-8 hours a day on an online game just doesn't seem healthy to me.

Hey, thanks for stereotyping all MMO players, because you KNOW that every single one of us log in for 6 - 8 hours per day. You are, after all, self-admittedly an expert.

Whoa...little touchy, dude? lol

I assume you guys are talking about games like World or Warcraft? Yeah, clearly not everyone who plays those things can stay on for 6 hours a day, but I know PLENTY of folks do. I knew a kid who failed out of college TWICE from playing World of Warcraft. But, whatever. Each unto his own. I suppose it's still better than crack.

And at least we make everyone go home after the weekend is over.

Shane, what the hell does MMO stand for any way?

It reflects real life.

In real news, welcome to the game Dangles! We look forward to seeing you at the opener! Don't mind these old guys, they get into quarrels sometimes. They might tell you to get off their lawn, but otherwise they're a friendly bunch. ;)

Um...Jeremy, I asked Shane... :ugeek:

No, but seriously, let's talk about what really matters... Yes! I cut my hair! It's wicked snazzy and EVERYONE loves it.

Isn't that right, Samara? RIGHT?

you can cut your avatar's hair all you want, but i got me a small squad of monsters :P

Of which I hope to a part of...hehehe.

Flayaway, thanks for the warm, albeit encrypted, welcome. I am counting the days until the opener and cannot wait. My biggest concern now is being able to bring my buddy along who is on the fence right now due to some personal stuff. Truth be told, I am filled with a bit of trepidation and anxiety at showing up on my own simply because I know noone and this is a whole new world for me. Regardless, I will be there.

I apologize. :geek:

I got my eye on you, buddy. :ugeek:

Dangles,

Seriously, don't worry about it in the least. Just ask for Ray or Gary and we'll show you around, get you all nice and cozy.

Thanks, DL and Syra and everyone else. That alleviates my anxieties quite a bit. I'm almost certain that my biggest problem by Sunday is trying to remember everyone's name as I am driving home with a huge smile on my face, but I still can't quite shake the nervousness of a being new. All your kind and encouraging words help out a lot.

Also, I found out today that Patsnight lives in the same town as I do...so that's a plus since he will be attending the opener too.

Thanks again, everyone!

I've been restraining the urge to comment on Gary's avatar's hair all week..

Greetings,

I'm a little late to this party, however my name is Jaimi and I'm on staff for Alliance Deadlands. I look forward to meeting you and can also help to answer any questions you may have. I was crazy nervous my first event as well and I may be able to help a bit. If you are interested, there are always a number of small things that need to get done on Friday night to help get the game started. Typically I am running around doing a bunch of them myself. Therefore I tend to show up a little early, around 5-6ish. If you can come around then, I would be happy to walk you around the site and show you what you need know. I will also be NPCing so I would be happy to help out once game starts.

There is also always a new player meeting before game start on Friday night that Ray runs, (you emailed him alread)....This is a fun little meeting and essential for all new players. You will learn the basics of the game and safe combat. Also some out of game tidbits of info...(my favorite is a new player's introduction to "HOLD")

Anyway, feel free to ask for Jaimi or find any other staff member when you show up and we will all help you out.

I understand the nervousness, but I promise you, it will most likely pass after about 10 minutes into the excitement of a Friday night at a chapter's opener event.

Look forward to meeting you,

~Jaimi

Can I also whisk you away into the woods for a torrid gypsy/wild elf love affair that others will later right fanfiction about?

What happens in the Contested Lands stays in the Contested Lands, baby.
