Basically, if an event is not really open to the standard players you can't assign a blanket to it (and this one isn't -- it's for kids; even if the parents play their characters, they should be there only as NPCs for their kids).

Does that same policy apply to low-level events?

No, because anyone can always create a new low-level character.

That's the answer I was hoping for.

*** UPDATE ***

I am completing the simplified rules and will be e-mailing them within a week or so to those who have expressed an interest. The idea is to have the children create their characters and practice their skills before they arrive for the event. If all the children arrive with a good understanding of the rules (especially the “Hold” rule), then the game will go much smoother. I will also be sending you the basic schedule of events which includes a brief overview of the Plotline. This is so that you can assist your children through the event as needed and maybe even prepare them for what to expect.

Please remember that parents/guardians can play their characters, but your character will be serving as an NPC for this event, helping to guide the children through the storyline. If we do not have enough non-parental NPCs, we will need some parents to play the "bad guys."

If you are interested in NPCing the event, I will send you the rules and schedule as well. To make this event a success, I'm going to need at least 10 full-time NPCs who will serve as the "bad guys," so please let me know if you're interested. You will earn Goblin Stamps for the event as well as experience the joy of providing a great game for the children.

Thanks everyone!

If parents need costumes for your children, send me a PM

If I can make perwin into a well dressed candy cane, i can make your kids into little knights and princesses.

:P

Eric, can you add me to the list for e-mailing? I wouldn't mind looking it over so I can at least get an idea of what to expect, assuming you stick with this guideline a few years down the road.

Thanks!

Any word yet on the Logistics side of things? Will I be needed for this event?

Hey Eric,

Please send me an email with the details for the kids event. Dan and I plan on attending with Ian and we will be happy to help you with whatever you need.

Thanks,
Missy
