Knights of Wayside

I wish to address a crime committed last market day and ask for summary judgement from a Knight of Wayside if its in your power to do so. As this crime was committed by an adventurer during a market-day I would request that an adventuring Knight be the one to lay down punishment as she sees fit. While this matter could be handled privately, I feel the nature of the crime makes it so that it should be resolved for all to see and hopefully learn from.

Last market-day, a member of the adventuring group, Lifestorm was found to possibly be under the effects of an enslavement. As guild-master, the leader of that guild sought to enforce rules per our guild charter and assaulted the guild member in public to then administer the enslavement antidote. While this matter may seem cut and dry and no charges would normally be pressed the public nature of this assault, combined with the fact that the victim of the assault was a Knight of Briarpass, Sera Zanabanath, make it so that it is important that the matter be brought resolved as soon as possible so as to prevent a pattern of acceptability where assaulting the nobility of your lands is concerned.

I understand that Sera Zanabanath, as both the victim and a close friend of her attacker, should not be asked to rule on this matter so I turn to Sera Liddia Fallingstar, Lady of Mushroom Hollow, to execute summary judgement upon the attacker, myself. While I could easily plead the extenuating circumstance of a loved one and mystic wood elf enslaved, or the time sensitive nature of the issue, I feel it is important that the law, in this case you Sera Fallingstar, take this matter seriously and press upon you the burden of summary judgment. I should have reached out to a Noble to help, I acted rashly and without thought to how my actions might affect the nobility. In making this mistake I undermined Sera Zanabanath's ability to lead. No adventurer should ever take up arms against their nobles, even if they find themselves in a difficult situation. My mistake, though one made in the heat of the moment, should be punished.

I understand that by asking for summary judgement I submit myself to your interpretation of the law and that the consequence of my action can range from a fine to a public execution. I will accept my punishment without struggle or rancor towards you Sera Fallingstar, should you chose to accept my request. I only hope that others may learn from my mistakes, and that whatever punishment you chose to weight against me clears my conscience and reputation in the eyes of the law and of the adventuring community.

Finally, I ask that any friends or family that I have, who would seek to alter this punishment, pressure Sera Fallingstar on my behalf, or voice their displeasure with this situation, refrain from doing so and instead recognize that I make this choice of my own free will and help me clear my conscience and honor, as well as overcome any

Sera Fallingstar, please right my honor. May your justice be swift, blind, wise, and without mercy.

Kind Regards,

Sir Jehan and Adventurers,

First thank you for realizing your error and seeking to correct it.
That says a lot to me about you and guides my hand in deciding what I
should do.

I know there are a number of people seeking to influence me here but I
must follow my heart. Some think this is foolish but my own sense and
my own heart have guided me this far I'll continue to follow them.
Some people feel that to have me rule on this instead of Elledandiril
erodes hers and my authority. I think it strenghtens our cooperative
relationship to rule on each others behalf and I want nothing and
noone to beleive that this ruling is tainted by her relationship to
you. I've spoken and she agrees with my judgement whole heartedly so I
speak with the full authority bestowed on me by Duke Rassh and his
Majesty.

I empathize with what you did and would maybe even act in the same way
in your situation. Family is not something which most of us always act
rationally but I have to hold you to a higher standard. I can't
personally blame you for it but I do find that your actions eroded
mine and Elle's authority and honor and for that you will be met with
justice. Its not acceptable to assault a Knight of these lands and an
example has to be made of you. You had the ability to reach out to me,
you had the connections to delay your victim and the brains to know
better. I'm sorry Jehan but you screwed up and so I have to punish
you.

While I could have you executed for your crime and it would probably
deter people from this type of action, I feel its both a waste of a
life and of an opportunity to improve this town. My station as Knight
does provide me with a lot of latitude to create what I feel is an
equitable punishment that keeps mistakes from being repeated by both
the offender or anyone else. Simply, you endangered the town, you
endanger yourself for the town:

First, I suspend your guilt and hold it to two tasks that you should
comply with should you fail, or chose to shierk these tasks, I will
pursue you to the fullest extent of the law. If you complete them
these charges will be considered cleared and your honor restored.

I have created a mark that you shall wear at all times in public.
While in the lands of Wayside for the rest of the adventuring season.
While you wear it you will not enjoy the powers of your station, you
will act with complete humility to all especially the nobility. Your
sword will stay at your side and your magics unsummoned unless it is
for the good of this town or to save the life of an innocent. You will
not, unless instructed, tap into the the Waystone network, or cast any
rituals without a nobles consent. You will bear this mark until
someone, not of your family or in your employ pleads your case to me
of their own volition and satisfy this debt of honor.

Also, the Ternian Circle's location off of proper lay line has caused
the circle to begin to fail. It is an emergency that someone
reconstruct it for the good of the towns adventuring population. I
remember the process was a very dangerous, costly, and painful one
with some additional risk to the caster of the final ritual as the
process causes an automatical flaw. This Friday night, supported by the
town you will bear the burden of the primary caster and the flaw or
flaws that will result. I will lead the others to defend us and the
circle from the elemtental dangers this ritual will summon but you
will be in charge of seeing through to the end. By stepping up to do
this I will wipe your slate clean, show yourself willing to take risks
as great as we have and to make sacrifices for these people and you
will have my forgiveness.

I do ask the town's adventuring community to gather to me shortly
after Enan's meeting to discuss the specifics of what needs to be
done. This is a difficult task and one that will require everyones
help and is an emergency.
