Love Potion #9

pvp = player vs player, pve = player vs environment. meh, there is other internet slang I don't always get.

Did I say something about encouraging high level people to player kill? lol I think I said something about not taking points to extremes in one of the other threads...

Personally I don't like pvp at all, I'm just saying a little bit of it here and there (not habits) can be good for the game and make things easier on monster camps. Wasn't really talking about flattening towns... ;)

lol its true... or 250+ Vengeance rits with a re-birth. ;)

PVP in Alliance is rare but happens.

Some characters have an axe to grind and will have an honor combat.

That's not all there is to PvP, Jim. Heck, you should know. ;)

Hmm, it seems that my "MMOs create stupid anagrams and have NOTHING to do with the plot I write or endorse" asides can bear with being a little less subtle. Duly noted. :P

nice! wow

I appreciate your praise, but I lost over a /played (real life) year to that game. I'm in recovery now...

One time in a module my dark elf got "Arcane Love"ed to a fey on the "Plane of Desire". This was before you could resist it with resist command. We had not yet figured out how to return to our own plane. Being an appropriately xenophobic dark elf that could in no way tolerate being in love with a fey, I killed her then killed myself. It was the only honorable thing to do. The mod group then very quickly figured out how to get back thanks to Tabin's frantic pleas of "We gotta get back, because if we come back and he's dead, we're dead." I fully expected to rezz, but they managed to figure it out, get back and get me a life spell in 5 minutes.

Good times.

Not all PVP involves players trying to kill each other. I see plenty of it in Ashbury, but it's more subtle, with characters trying to frame other characters or, at least, prevent other characters from gaining information...

That what i meant when i said PVP. I could see one pc dosing another pc as a means to get information, stop some one from getting in your way, or for a plethora of other reasons. Oh well.

Just keep in mind that some alchemy, like Love #9, isn't in the PC recipe book. It's fun to play with, but it's not often available out there.

Plus, Euphorias and Enslavements, followed by Amnesias, are much more fun.

:)

Actually, players can make Love 9. Not every alchemist will have the recipe, but it available to PCs (unlike Euphoria and Enslavement)

Quite true. But it is pretty expensive. Off the top of my head, i think it's about 45 production points. A little too expensive to use purely for giggles (at least at lower levels).

I stand corrected. The alchemy list I have is from New Hampshire, where love effects were removed from use for a time.

PvE combat has the advantage of a throttle. If it's getting out of hand it can be throttled back by whoever's running NPC camp that day. PvP combat can be throttled back, too, by the players, but sometimes that could end up being cheesy, where it's obvious that you're making an excuse NOT to do something your character very well SHOULD do in the given situation, simply because you know it's not going to be fun for the other guy. That cheese, however, doesn't strike me as a big obstacle.

There are LOTS of times that players hold back on PVP even though it would make sense for the character, particularly when they know that their intended target has no chance, or as you said, that it would be no fun.

Trust me, there would be a lot more deaths if certain people took off their personal throttles.

I hold back the throttle all the time. I'm holding back the throttle right now.

I don't think the world is ready for Scott with no throttle.... you're just too tall for that.

Scott's throttle was removed at the wedding. Dee lets him see it occationally.
