for guy's boots "engineer" boots or motorcycle boots are a possiblity (to see what I'm talking about go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineer_boots)

My husband Daren (Tamesvar the Gypsy) has modified his combat boots by putting a longer leather shaft on them and a "cuff" to make them look more "fantasy medieval". He did this for the SCA. They work very well and I can take a picture of them if anyone would like.

If all else fails, just grab a nice wool or fleece blanket and wrap it around yourself for a cloak.

But if it's an Army blanket, make sure the "US" Stamp is on the INSIDE.
