i take issue with the idea that being "quick witted" and "observant" should be rewarded because of a stupidity tax. i understand sneaking away with the box if the character is greedy, but pretending that people are mad at the person/character for taking the loot and not for sneaking away from the battle as one of the few people with armor is also irresponsible. getting rewarded without doing the work may be smart in your book, but its just screwing your friends in mine
In another LARP I played in, the character I was playing was a xenophobic cleric, whose worst enemies were the highlanders his nation were trying to "civilize". However, the game was on neutral ground. Lots of harsh looks and in-game insults, but no violence, for months. There was a lot of them, and only one of me.
I ran into a pack of orcs by myself (who liked none of us) and insulted them into chasing me to kill my "Highland guards", then turned off a trail just before the group of highlanders. The PC's laughed, thinking I just didn't want to be near them and I got plenty of trail between me and the inevitable collision
The orcish war party proceeded to massacre the lot of them in a gruesome fashion, leaving seven dead PC's on the ground on their way to the town.
I then came back and "turned the other cheek" by resurrecting the lot of them, and in their gratitude they scraped together most of their coin and made a generous donation.
Stupidity tax paid. Thank you very much.
PC's are not always on the same side, nor are they always looking out for anyone but number one.
