We wanted to remind everybody that for the tournament in September, you can either be on a team or you can compete individually. You can't do both. Thank you. ~Shane
 
Determined per event? Or does someone wanting to do, lets say the legerdemain event where there is no team version, not get to do any team events?

Team and individually are for the entire tournament not just a single event. You are correct if you wanted to sign up for legerdemain event then you would be barred from all team events. However, Amazing Adventures will likely have a Rogue's aspect and their skills will probably be highly sought should they chose to take the team approach.

Don't forget to sign-up for tournament events. There are still openings which will fill up on a first come first served basis. If you have questions, feel free to post them here so we can clarify. One change is that the opening performances will be done once all participants have reached the field. This allows everyone to enjoy your antics. :)
 
Here are some questions we have received about the upcoming tournament in September. Enjoy!


1 - For the relay race...the challenges at the end of each checkpoint, those aren't fighting challenges correct? Note challenges at checkpoints are not mentioned in the rules for the tournament but we are clarifying in case anybody else misread.
· The challenge will in figuring out the destination give by the clues. However this is new Acarthia so take proper precautions.

2 - Are teams secret on who is signed up?
· No, lists are public and will be posted.

3 - For amazing adventurers - Are scrolls/potions/magic items allowed?
· Yes, magic weapons, silver weapons, wands, scrolls, potions, alchemies, etc. all are allowed

4 - Is the relay race the full team?
· Full team will be allowed up to the 6 people registered for that team.

5 - Is the amazing adventurer course the full team?
· Full team will be allowed up to the 6 people registered for that team.

Finally there was request for the timeline of the events. The timeline will be posted soonish but beware that it will be tentative. The official final schedule will be posted on Saturday morning ahead of the parade
 
Here is the second round of questions.

6 - How was the full points for the team winner be calculated? Will the points from each individual event be added up?
· Yes, - please note that there is no limit on team events - the more events your team enters the more points they will have. An average team placing in all events could go home tournament champions.

7 - How will points be calculated for each event? 1st place - 5 points, 2nd - 4 points, etc.
· 1st 10, 2nd 7, 3rd 4, Honorable Mention 1

8 - Can a team field multiple teams in an event? So..can a team of 6 split into two teams of 3 and enter two teams in archery?
· No, please share the love with other teams.

9 - What type of bracket system will be used for each event (single elim)?
· Single Elimination except were mentioned in the rules.

10 - In the spellcasting competition, do spell usage carry over from one round to another?
· Yep. One spelllist for the entire single event.

  • Team Spells for Sport is changing to 2 members from a team on the field instead of 3

6) What time with Scavenger Hunt start?
  • It will start at 10:30 AM and It runs throughout the day - teams need to assemble their "responses" in time for judging
7) Is message grab a relay race
  • Message grab doesn't have to be relay. - No, how you choose to gather the clue object is up to you, you could all go together to each clue location or you could send your group in six different direction at the same time. Remember this is New Acarthia.
PLEASE NOTE: Relay Race has been renamed to Message Grab.

8) Is Spells for Sport one or two events?
  • Two, one for individuals and one for teams

Just received a couple of tournament questions so wanted to post them here with the answers so all were aware of the same information. If an event only has a single entrant our intention is to lean on NPC camp to give that person a run for the money. There will be no automatic wins. The other question was about ledgerdermainer - the competition will include boxes, locks and actual traps. Thanks to Alex Smith for the work that is going into this item on the event roster!
 
Can you use high magic abilities in amazing adventurers (aka healing pool)?
  • No. Magic 9th circle and above can not be used.
Is amazing adventurer scaled for group (card and player ability)?
  • Some scaling may occur
How does the weapon grab work for the lone legend? Can you bring in extra weapons? How many can you pick up? Can you pick up other peoples weapon or move them?
  • Yes you can bring in extra weapons. You can pick up as many of your weapons as you would like. You may not grab or take or move an opponents weapon.
Should we change the scavenger hunt to all day instead of 2 hours.
  • Scavenger hunt is all day - the judging is at night for those 2 hours.
 
  1. Can we switch out the makeup of our team fighters between rounds?
    • Does that mean we can do the same in spells for sports?
Yes, swaps okay but with the caveat that we would like to gauge reactions of attendees to it. No resets, all battleboards must be updated for any skills used for fighters as those were really used IG just with padded weapons. Spells are marked off of their "tournament" memorization. We are also clarifying that a contestant's spell list is their spell list for the entire tournament day, we want one list not separate ones for spells for sport versus amazing adventures. This is to keep them on the same level ground as fighters who are really using their real skills and don't get free resets on those.
 
1. Spells for Sports - how much armor and body?
  • You have as much body and armor as you normally do (e.g. no changes from your character for this).
2. Team Spells for Sports - I get confined, am I out or am I out once my entire team is incapacitated.
  • if you are confined, please physically represent this as often you can end up as a shield for others still active in the combat. Since the rules say to your incapacitation, even if a teammate frees you, you would still be out of the combat for your team.
3. If we enter items like shields into A&S. Can we use them and just make sure they are back to be judged on Sunday am?
  • Yes, you may use them, however, keep in mind that Her Grace may view some of the A&C over the lunch break and likely she and Brandon will judge the items before dark on Saturday.
