If they are hardly changing, why do you need a rewrite?

I would appreciate it if people wouldn't bitch until they actually have something to bitch about.
 
All I can recommend to players with concerns and issues, is to let your local alliance chapter owner know your questions and concerns. Im sure every owner is also cognizant of the issues and concerns new rules will cause and will do all they can to make a customer service effort to make sure our players end up with a fun game and product to play.

Yes, absolutely! There is a proper hierarchy, which is the best way to get things accomplished.
 
Mike, I really hope that was just a poorly thought out comment with bad wording typed out in the heat of frustration, because I would really hate to think that you intentionally just publicly stated that you wished an entire regionally sectioned off portion of your client base would just sit down, shut up, and enjoy the ride whether it's where they want to go or not and stop trying to influence the game already.

I for one just want to say thanks to all the people who work hard to make the game what it is.

I think we all still love the same game here right? I mean I know we all have differences, but not much is going to be accomplished by arguing and bickering about it. I hope we can all be civil please? :?

I have always sort of wondered, I know staff basically isn't good at all from experience and word of mouth. But what could "fix" it do ya'll think?
 
allowing to hold it one handed to block while you cast.... which.... i don't wanna say it... but uh... wait.. for the new rules...
 
That would certainly get it a little bit better.

But between staff and spear... spear every time.

Plus spear doesn't need tweaking to be useful ;-)

JP does that to me, and I apologize.

The fact is that, like it or not, this game is MY vision. Seriously, I'm sorry to disappoint anyone, but my name is on the book and in the copyright office.

Not everyone will agree with my vision, and I not only realize this, but accept and acknowledge it by allowing the chapter owners to vote on the rules. And sometimes I lose votes and deal with it.

The problem is that there are some people who don't have the same vision as I do and instead of saying "Well, I can disagree" instead work hard to undermine that vision and cause dissent when there need not be such. And when it almost always seems to come from one person I tend to get upset and go "not again".

Seriously, some of the arguments I read from certain people make me just think "Why are you playing this game anyway if you dislike it so much?" It's not like we're the only LARP out there. Hell, go join NERO or start a NERO chapter -- they'll let you do whatever you want as long as you pay Joe Valenti. He doesn't give a damn about consistency of rules and policies.

Yet if Staff could be held in one hand even if only for blocking, it would make it MUCH more viable for casters. Seeing as it would be 6 build less than spears for them... ;)

*still can't wait for the new rules, will patiently wait for now*
 
Meh.

I still say that the extra 6 build is worth the versatility of being able to pick up an actual* weapon

*Long sword.
 
Meh, unless you're going to spend build to be able to swing things higher than 2's there's no point in a caster picking up OHE. At least with staff you have a bigger blocking weapon.
 
Bigger blocking weapon is inferior to 5' of spear that is mostly grip and has a stabbing point on the end. :)
 
I know some people who complain a lot arnt complaining they are just sugesting a possible diffrent way of doing things that might be worth a thinking about and if they seem like they wont work no biggie.
not every sugestion is a Complaintor or a statment that the change is needed or without it the system is broken.

I know I so loved Watchamacallit's candy bars untill they added carmael and now I think there ick.

mike's point is, making suggestions is fine if you are trying to build a proposal to send to the arc (as that is the proper chain of command) but just complaining to everyone that you don't like X and your way is better, doesn't do anything expect piss people off. If you really do have a better way, tell your owner, have them bring it to the owners council meeting or whatever it is called.

i get that people want to test the water here with thier suggestions to see if they are valid or not, but i can also see how frustrated people can get regarding all of this and that's not going to help anyone.

and no offence to new players, but when they suggest something, and 9 times out of 10 those suggestions have already been on the table at one point and shot down, or said new player doesn't actually understand the rules enough to be qualified to make that suggestion, i can see why it can get old reading them.
 
I think the problem might be what is and isnt a complaint
like I said some people sugest another way and its not a complaint
A chef even though he has a recipe that works and tastes good keeps tweeking it same with the rules
they work fine have for years but they keep tweeking them.

New players or even not so new players haev no idea what has been said and asked before so older players must be UNDERSTANDING of this as the only opetion is to nver sugest or comment on anything becouse it might haev could have been said before?

Just like there are many knobs on the TV and Radio your not force to read and comment on anything some new weenie posts
and there are several ways to comment and carry on a constructive conversation without resorting to jsut thinking or saying the person hates the game.
Talking about the game is what the board is about and who knows perhaps a totaly dumb idea will be talked about and from it will come a better new idea.

But I guess some would rather jsut limit the people posting to long time players only

Frank, I really don't think people want to limit new folks posting at all. However as a new poster myself I try to be very careful about what I say because I don't want to say the same old thing again and again... I feel bad when I'm frustrating the older players. Honestly nearly all the people on these boards are really great folks, it’s just very easy for misunderstanding to arise over the internet because it is so hard to put tone and inflection into simple type.

p.s. you might want to check you spelling and stuff before you post mate. ;)
