he's the laughing buddha, and he's chinese, not indian, and he's also 1,500 years older than Siddharta, and is more Zen then buddhist. but, all that being said, he'd prefer earth tones to chromatics, ¿neh?

The monk that the Laughing Buddha (Budai, Hotei) is based on a Chan (Zen) monk that lived during the Later Liang Dynasty (907 - 923 AD). That makes him about 1000 years old, which is over 1000 years YOUNGER than Siddhartha aka Sakyamuni Buddha.

lots of people have good ideas...sometimes they die because they are willing to unfortunately :(

well according to the 13th apostle not mentioned in the bible because he was black...people die for their beliefs...you should just have good ideas...

I don't think that it's the life of Buddha that most Buddhists really care about. He had...such a good idea.
¡wait! are you suggesting that a perfectly reasonable and sound idea created by a visionary thinker could ever be perverted followers into something wholly incomparable to the original idea? you're kidding! naw, naw, naw; don't believe; doesn't happen

Mike - you're right, i said older, when i meant younger; however, i'm still sticking by my 1,500 years demarcation. most accounts drop Siddharta at around 500 BCE

Yeah. The new church that took over my favorite coffeehouse is handing out tee shirts that say "If you don't believe, you don't belong."

It made me giggle.

Well, I said "over 1000" and your 1500 is over 1000. I left room for those who can't decide the exact year.

Ah, but his life prior to that idea and after that idea are quite different. The latter demonstrates the idea.

wow...we got really off subject....

here's a better idea.....

lets NOT discuss personal beliefs! ? what'dya think?

heheheheheheh I just would hate to post something that offended someone and personally I don't appreciate being offended. Sooooooooooo. on that note...

uhhh....yeah happy graduation? jeepers how many times can we say this? where ya going for college?

I'm not a hundred percent on that yet. I was thinking I'd get my core credits at community college so they'd transfer to a school with a good psych and pre med program.

gratz

I wouldnt wait to go to collage unless you want to end up saying all day "would you like frys with that?"

FW

Yeah, the days of getting a good job with security straight out of high school are about nil.

I'm not waiting any longer than January of '09. I'll need the warm months to get my stuff packed up. I don't want to have to be hauling boxes in the wintertime.

though it's not a universal, by far and large, a college degree jacks up your yearly income by ~$10,000 out of your field, and $20,000 within. that is, of course, unless it's an English degree and then you can't buy yourself a job ;( but, as for Psych and Med degrees, the hot commodities these days are gerontology and forensics: work 70 hour weeks for a decade and a half and then retire to Nicé and spend the rest of your life spending. of course, you have to be brilliant, merciless, and forsake family/friends, but i digress

I'm going to be a clinical psychiatrist. For people who are already insane. I just don't want to end up fourty years down the road in an office trying to analyze and relate to kids that grew up in an entirely different world than I did.
