Riddles

The only thing I ever saw that was green, hung on a wall (really from a ceiling) and whistled was a parakeet in a cage. I will have to think a bit harder on this one.

Nathan Westwind-
Allow me to apologize for riddling in a way that is not satisfactory for you. Mayhap my simple and obviously week atempt at entertainment is far below your intelect? So please do not allow yourself to suffer my ignorance any longer. Having you listen in would be most undesirable to myself, should your expectations be faultered. My most humble apologys, may you never be satisfyed below your calaber of intelectual entertainment.

Arkade Prince, if I didn't know better, I'd think you weren't being sincere.

No need to apologize, or act offended, it has nothing to do with intellect and everything to do with education. Riddles are indeed entertaining, but they can also be serious, and it is always a good idea to keep your wits sharp and your mind open. If you can't handle a little constructive critisism, you may want to rethink broadcasting your dreams here so your feelings aren't so easily bruised. Good day then.

Nathan Westwind-
I took no offence to your critisism, I just belive... Your "critisism" was poorly worded and could have had any number of meanings. I just have a very sarcastic tounge, If you can't handle a little constructive sarcasm, you may want to rethink broadcasting your dreams here so your feelings aren't so easily bruised.

I am confused by your seemingly mocking tone.

I believe my criticism was well worded, so perhaps you misunderstood it.

Let me explain.

You stated "That is why it is a riddle! Your supposed to be frustrated with the answer, ha!"

Yet by definition, this is untrue. A riddle is a statement or question having a double or veiled meaning, put forth as a puzzle to be solved. Riddles are of two types: enigmas, which are problems generally expressed in metaphorical or allegorical language that require ingenuity and careful thinking for their solution, and conundrums, which are questions relying for their effects on punning in either the question or the answer.

If you believe that riddles should be frustrating, I can only assume this is a belief formed from your own experience being frustrated by riddles. And if you are often frustrated by the answers of riddles it may be because you are unpracticed in riddle-craft or don't truly grasp the minute intricacies that a really good riddle can contain.

Stumping someone with a poorly formed riddle is like killing an unarmed goblin. You could do it, but why you would go around bragging about it is beyond me.

A Herring?! I call shenanigans! Bah. "What's confusing, filled with unremarkable traits, has wildly opposed characteristics, and is over there?" A Herring! BAH! I say, bah!

Here's an easy one for you: I have fed upon literature, yet know not a letter; I live among books, and am none the wiser for it; I have devoured the Ancients, yet have made no progress. What am I?

Bookworm. :)

I prefer the more delicate and beautiful moth, but a bookworm will suffice. ;)

It's your turn now.
