A W

You were giving the first letters of each of the words in the question you were posing. Also, I enjoyed the Oyster riddle, you had me stumped.

I'm glad to see so many quick wits out there. It saddens me that the riddles portion of the tourney was replaced with ashburian trivia... but onto the next one....

When I am filled
I can point the way,
When I am empty
Nothing moves me,
I have two skins
One without and one within.
What be I?

I think you would be right there, Arkade.

Okay........

If you have it you want to share it, if you share it you do not have it.

What is it?

Glove is correct.... I really have to find a stumper... let's see...

A lady before going to bed read a book for a while. After reading her book she turned out the light and went to bed. When she woke up in the morning she read the paper. In the paper she read about a ship that had sunk and all passengers died. Though she didn't know anyone on the ship she commited suicide that day. Why?

In response to the riddle about the lady: she was the Light-house Keeper on the cliffs; when she snuffed the fire in the tower the ship ran ashore killing all the passengers. Why she commited suicide is open to debate, but I suspect she was so saddened by the outcome of her action she chose what she believed the easiest and simplest escape - as to why she didn't resurect afterward, that also is unknown, but I think immaterial. And, really, I think she overreacted. Mistakes happen and we must live by their consequences, seeking solace or escape in death seems cowardly and irresponsible to me. It is likely the majority of the ship's passengers resurrected and, though shaken by the experience, were probably still in good health. At any rate, that is neither here nor there.

As for Marcena's, I've heard this riddle before but I cannot place the answer. Hmmm. It reminds me of a similar riddle: If you have it, you don't want to share it, but you do; if you don't have it, you will get it, but won't want it.

Just for that, I disprove your earlier riddle with this: 1/0.

1/0 is undefined.

Lighthouse keeper is right.... onto the next... this one is fairly easy.

What is it that no man wants to have, but no man wants to lose?

Nothing was a bad answer. "No man wants nothing, and no man wants to loose nothing." It was actualy quite a horrable answer.

After reading it a few times I started thinking of things like "everything", "Wife", "A Broken Heart". But finaly I came up with "Work". But I assume this is not the rite answer since most I know would rather work than do nothing. Some would want to loose their jobs at times.

My best answer though.

Ok... enough time has gone by, the answer is...

A trial. No man wants to be on trial, but no man wants to lose his trial.

Next!

What has wings,
But can not fly.
Is enclosed,
But can outside also lie.
Can open itself up,
Or close itself away.
Is the place of kings and queens,
And doggerel of every means.
What is it upon which I stand?
Which can lead us to different lands.
