Riddles

Red-

It could have just as easily been a sword...

or a very tall pole...

If y ou read the original riddle it can't be. It says, what does no man what to HAVE, but no man wants to lose.

People want to have swords... and long poles...

I guess instead of trial, a better answer would be lawsuit. Same answer different word.

What has wings,
But can not fly.
Is enclosed,
But can outside also lie.
Can open itself up,
Or close itself away.
Is the place of kings and queens,
And doggerel of every means.
What is it upon which I stand?
Which can lead us to different lands.

This one has had me thinking... and my guess is a Library.

I'm surprised it took me so long considering the amount of time I spend in them.

Library seems too concrete. I would say the answer is: Imagination.

"Is enclosed,

Not that many open air libraries I know of....

I have encountered libraries with open portions and sitting areas. Also I read that to have the double meaning of "outside can also lie" as in... it's a hidden or concealed library. I have experience with those as well.

However, this is all semantics. There is an answer that fits better, stage may be it. I will have to see if I can think of anything else.

Mirror is right... next!!!

Thousands lay up the gold within this house,
but no man hath made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man does ward it.

Yep, it's a bee hive.... It truly is a shame that the riddles competition was removed from the tourney.

What has six legs, two heads, four ears, two hands, but walks on four feet?

A man riding a horse.

I like you people, I hope to see many of you in the summer when I leave the forest tourney.... a man on a horse is correct.

What work is it that,
the faster you work,
the longer it is before your work is done,
And the slower you work
the sooner your work is finished?

Vainly bailing out a sinking boat?
