Riddles

The answer to my riddle was: Roasting meat on a spit. Turn it to fast and it take a long time to cook, turn it slow and it cooks faster.

Twice four and twenty blackbirds
sitting in the rain
I shot and killed a quarter of them
How many do remain?

(I have found 2 possible answers for this)

Well, the obvious answer is 2*4+20=28, 28*(3/4)= 21. (The other potential answer, involving 2(4+20), resulting in 36, would be incorrect, based on how the question is stated.)
However, I would hope that after you killed a few, the rest would fly off, leaving no birds at all.

A vampire.

Though I would assume that is the solution to the riddle and not what you actually happen to be.

Twice four and twenty is indeed 2(4+20).... so this leaves us with...

Answer 1: 12 2x(4+20)=48, if 1/4 of 48 are shot (12) ... these 12 will remain (dead) and the rest will fly away.
Answer 2: None Upon shooting any of the birds, the rest will all fly away.

I build up castles.
I tear down mountains.
I make some men blind,
I help others to see.
What am I?

I would have to agree with Vampire, drains it's victims blood, and eternally binds them to undeah.

(remember the time period we're dealing with here, this is an IG section, and A stapler isn't very in period.)

Is hammer and nail! And does nye ETERNALLY bind them into undeath....I am yet living, mister.

As for the other one.....Ah! I am so bad at riddles!

I will guess "Vision," though I believe it is too apparent.

For the bird question, the way it was asked was "twice four and twenty." Written out mathematically, that is 2*4+20, or (2*4)+20, as you do multiplication before addition, unless specified otherwise, which the riddle does not.

Does nye the answer stay the same? Is none left after you kill a few? The rest would have the mind to take flight after their friends started to die, nye?

Without the inflection of speech I can see how this might pose a problem. It's not twice four..... and twenty. It's twice..... four and twenty.
Similar contect can be found in a child's poem.

Sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of rye,
four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.

And vision is nae the answer to the other.

As for the vampire, it's a question of perspective. Yes, once you are an undead, there are ritual means to reverse it and return you to life. However, once a spirit has been touched in such a way, it can never be full cleansed, thereby my statement of eternal binding is accurate.

So once an undead, always an undead? *checks self for signs of rot; sees none, but looks frightened*

I'm gonna try to make this as friendly as my blood will let me...
Once an undead, forever tainted with the stain of chaos. You might not be rotting on the outside, but you're festering on the inside.

Even if you are created against your will? I know of many adventures who have fallen on the field and the enemy thought it amusing to create them and send them into the fray to attack their companions. So all of those people should now be shunned because of circumstances they had no control over?

Although I am certainly nye the best of us....is what mi sorella just say something that just happens to the best of us? I am nye fore'er bound to Plane of Undeath and I can go on as normal without the adventurers that have ne'er had this happen to them as it has to me shunning me or worse? Is information that I would like to have here and now!

May Peace And Fortune Love You All,
